3D Scanning & Modelling of Heritage Monuments


Project Description

As a part 3D-GIS initiative, DoIT&C/ GoR, RISL has started 3D LiDAR Scanning and 3D Modelling of Heritage Monuments of Rajasthan in year 2014. Virtually preservation of heritage monuments by way of 3D Scanning and Modelling was the main objective of the project.
The project involves laser scanning both in and out of historical heritage / monuments and has been used to create a homogenous model.

Approach and Objective

• Virtual preservation of Heritage Monuments
• To take up 3D GIS initiatives for creation of 3D Models of selected point of interest that may held decision makers in planning.


Outcome

3D Scanning and Modelling of following monument have been completed in the project so far:
• Jantar Mantar
• Albert Hall
• Hawa Mahal
• City Palace of Jaipur
• City Palace of Udaipur
• 8 Gates of Walled City (Ajmeri Gate, Sanganeri Gate, Chandpole Gate, Surajpole Gate, Ghat Gate, Samrat Gate, New Gate & Zorawar Singh Gate)
• Amer Fort
• Kumbhalgarh Fort
• Badi Chapur, Jaipur

Tourism department, Various Heritage Monument Development authorities, citizen

AUTODESK REVIT, RECAP, 3DS MAX, UNITY

Outlook

1. 3D MODELS MAY BE USED FOR RENOVATION OF MONUMENTS.
2. AR-VR SHOWS, VIRTUAL WALKTHROUGH AND LIGHT & SOUND SHOW MAY BE PRESENTED THROUGH PPP MODE. TOURISM MAY BE PROMOTED THROUGH VIRTUAL SHOW OF MONUMENTS
3. 3D PRINTING OF SCANNED MODELS CAN BE DONE AND USED FOR PROMOTING TOURISM.
